What should you pay attention to when driving in fog? How can you drive to ensure safety? The following matters need to be paid attention to when driving in fog.
1. Lighting
Turn on fog lights and turn off high beams. Visibility is low and light is poor in foggy days, but remember not to use high beams. The reason is that the high beams are directed upwards, and the light emitted will be diffusely reflected by the fog, forming a white area in front of the car, which makes visibility even worse. The correct operation is to turn on the fog lights, width lights, double flash lights, etc. to remind the vehicles in front and behind.
2. Driving
Don’t brake suddenly or honk the horn
Avoid slamming on the brakes in foggy days. Since the distance between vehicles is difficult to distinguish in foggy days, if you slam on the brakes, it may cause the rear vehicle to react in time and cause a rear-end collision, which is more likely to occur when driving on the highway. When you need to brake, you may as well lightly brake several times in a row, which can not only achieve the purpose of controlling the speed, but also the taillights will light up at this time to remind the rear vehicle to pay attention to the distance. In foggy days with low visibility and poor sight, frequent honking of the horn can help other vehicles and pedestrians determine the direction and effectively prevent accidents. If you hear other cars honking in foggy weather, you can honk in response to indicate your driving position.
3. Speed Drive in the middle and drive at a low speed
During foggy weather, drive as close to the center of the road as possible to avoid accidents caused by special road conditions on both sides of the road where the driver does not have time to react. Of course, if the visibility is too poor in foggy weather, overtaking should also be avoided to prevent accidents. The visible distance in foggy weather is very short, so drivers must control their speed, do not exceed the speed limit, and of course do not drive at a snail’s pace. Just drive slowly and at a constant speed. If you want to be more specific, you can refer to the following speeds: visibility between 100m~200m, no more than 60 km/h visibility between 50m~100m, no more than 40 km/h visibility less than 30m, no more than 20 km/h visibility within 10m, it is recommended to wait for the fog to dissipate before driving
4. Defogging
Please turn on the automatic air conditioner
Do not open the window for ventilation on foggy days. To avoid long-term isolation, you can turn on the air conditioner’s internal circulation mode to circulate the air in the car. Of course, it is best to turn on the automatic air conditioner. The automatic air conditioner will prevent fogging by reducing the temperature difference between the glass and the car and reducing the humidity in the car. The detectors inside and outside the car will monitor the temperature and other conditions in the car in real time. When the humidity is high, the AC will automatically turn on, and the compressor will start working to reduce the humidity in the car; at the same time, with appropriate window blowing, reduce the temperature difference between the glass and the car, and prevent fogging while ensuring a comfortable temperature in the car.
