There have been frequent rainfalls recently. When new energy vehicles are charged outdoors on rainy days, will there be short circuits or leakage in the charging pile? What precautions should be taken when charging new energy vehicles outdoors when it rains?
Is it safe to charge outdoors on rainy days? Generally, the charging port of new energy vehicles is made of insulating material and has a drainage design. After the charging gun is plugged in, the charging port is in a sealed state, which can achieve a waterproof effect. Therefore, new energy vehicles can be charged on rainy days, but the charging time also depends on the rainfall.
Ordinary rainy days
In drizzle or light rain, when charging, pay attention to avoid rainwater directly entering the charging port and causing a short circuit in the charging pile.
Heavy rain days
When encountering short-term heavy rain, heavy rain or thunderstorms, do not charge new energy vehicles.
How to regulate charging on rainy days?
Choosing a parking space
When parking and charging in the charging area, try to choose a location with no water accumulation and a higher ground to avoid the battery being soaked in water. If there is water accumulation in the charging area, charging is prohibited.
Check the charging gun
Check whether the charging gun has been soaked by rainwater, whether there is water or debris in the gun, and wipe the gun head clean before using it.
Start charging
After unplugging the charging gun from the charging pile, be sure to make sure the gun muzzle is facing down and cover it with rain gear to prevent rain from splashing into the gun head. After inserting it into the charging port of the vehicle body and hearing the snap sound, make sure the connection is complete before charging.
Cover the charging port after unplugging the gun
After the charging process is completed, unplug the charging gun from the vehicle body, and immediately close the insertion port cover while unplugging the charging gun, and then close the charging cover.
Return the charging gun plug to its original position
When charging is completed and the charging gun is plugged back into the charging pile socket, the charging pile gun muzzle should continue to be facing down, and at the same time, it should be covered with rain gear to prevent rain from splashing into the gun head.
