After Xpeng MONA M03, the most promising Xpeng is here, it is Xpeng G7. In fact, whether from the level or from its positioning in the G series SUV, it is more like the “SUV version” of Xpeng P7. The reason why Xpeng G7 has received so much attention and is regarded as Xpeng’s “SUV version of M03” is largely because the vehicle will emphasize the adaptability to the family car market, rather than blindly piling up configurations. Is it possible that the new Xpeng G7 is coming, nearly 4.9 meters long, 702km range + 5C battery, Model Y is not good?
From the design of Xpeng G7, we can judge its identity as a new generation product. On the front of the car, the Xpeng G7 is almost a replica of the style of the Xpeng P7+. In addition to the flatter overall longitudinal structure, its three-stage daytime running light strip, the high and low beam lights in the L-shaped guide structure, and the air duct and decorative design with all-black surrounds in the front bumper, etc., are not much different from the Xpeng P7+. However, just like the muscular bulge lines at both ends of the hood, the entire structure has completed the longitudinal adjustment. Among them, the front bumper has a more significant overall lifting treatment at the bottom to optimize the passability of multiple road conditions, making the front of the car look more textured.
In terms of the side, the Xpeng G7 is more conservative than the Xpeng P7+. The waistline of the vehicle adopts a special sinking treatment, and the crossing decoration is completed between the front wheel eyebrows. With the shallow mouth design above the black independent wheel eyebrows, the vehicle looks a lot more capable. At the same time, in terms of details, the Xpeng G7 has a D-pillar with a larger hatchback angle, and uses hidden electric door handles, floating exterior rearview mirrors, etc., and a rearview camera is arranged on the front fender.
In terms of size, among the three data of 4892/1925/1655mm, although the body width of 1925mm is 5mm less than that of Zeekr 7X, combined with its 67mm length advantage, this ratio makes the vehicle look more coordinated. However, the wheelbase of Xpeng G7 is 2890mm, which is exactly the same as that of Xpeng G6. It is still unknown how much difference there will be in space. Given that Xpeng G6 can already provide a trunk volume of 647L, the Xpeng G7, which has a longer body and a sunken design, is expected to maintain a good storage space performance.
At the rear of the car, Xpeng G7 also uses the inward D-pillar and wide body design of Xpeng P7+. Not only that, while providing a high-position spoiler, Xpeng G7 actually uses almost the same taillights as Xpeng P7+, but with the addition of a through light strip connecting the left and right under the tailgate, it looks like it will have a significant differentiation effect. As for the rear bumper, the wide all-black surround also has extra thickened guard plates on the left and right sides to optimize the overall passability.
Regarding space, Xpeng G7 has optimized the legs and head specifically for family users. It is reported that the second-row leg space of Xpeng G7 can be close to 1 meter, which is significantly better than Model Y, and the head space has a 35mm advantage over Model Y. At the same time, for family users traveling with children, the vehicle has also completed the optimization of the child safety seat interface position, and provides some optional trunk outdoor car expansion accessories.
In addition, domestic TV media previously exposed the suspected interior design of Xpeng G7 in a news column. According to the actual car, Xpeng G7 will adopt a similar instrument-free design as M03, with a double-spoke steering wheel front end integrated with an electronic hand-gear, and mainly with hidden air outlets, atmosphere lights, and left and right liftable speakers. At the same time, the front end of the armrest box also adopts a floating platform with a similar suspension shape, equipped with a wireless charging plate, double cup holders, etc., with hollow storage below, and the door panel decoration forms a surround cockpit effect with the central control.
In terms of smart technology, the smart cockpit of Xpeng G7 is supported by 8295 chips, and it is expected to have built-in AI Dimensity OS 5.6.X version. In terms of assisted driving, a pure visual solution with high-computing chip support will be adopted. It is reported that it is expected to replace Nvidia Orin-X chip with its own Turing AI chip, but the Orin-X is still exposed. In terms of function, Xpeng G7 is expected to complete the standard XNGP system like Xpeng G6 and Xpeng P7+, covering advanced functions such as high-speed city navigation assistance and intelligent parking assistance.
In terms of power, Xpeng G7 has not fully disclosed all the three-electric information. However, according to the declared information, Xpeng G7 will be equipped with a 218kW rear electric motor on the entry-level model, and has a CLTC pure electric range of 702km. By equipping the Zhongxin Aviation 5C super-charged AI battery, it will support charging for 12 minutes and increase the range by 300km. However, the vehicle needs to be matched with the Xpeng S4 charging pile to achieve such a recharging speed. I wonder how it will perform at the standard charging pile.
The new Xpeng G7 is coming, nearly 4.9 meters long, 702km of range + 5C battery, Model Y is not attractive? With the experience of Xpeng P7+, we are still looking forward to the pricing of Xpeng G7. After all, while the positioning is actually higher than Xpeng P7i, the price of Xpeng P7+ on sale is much lower than the former. In the face of the 170,000-level G6 and the 250,000-level G9, if Xpeng G7 can be positioned in the 200,000-level market, it may really be expected to fill the gap between Leapmotor C11 and Zeekr 7X, and once again represent the local new forces to impact Tesla Model Y.
