On November 12th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the October 2025 automotive industry economic operation data, sourced from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

In 2023, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 9.587 million and 9.495 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 35.8% and 37.9%; new energy vehicle sales accounted for 31.6% of total new vehicle sales.
In 2024, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 12.888 million and 12.866 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 34.4% and 35.5%; new energy vehicle sales accounted for 40.9% of total new vehicle sales.
Since 2025, the momentum has been even stronger—from January to June, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 6.968 million and 6.937 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 41.4% and 40.3%; new energy vehicle sales accounted for 44.3% of total new vehicle sales.
In July, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.243 million and 1.262 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 26.3% and 27.4%; new energy vehicle sales accounted for 48.7% of total new vehicle sales.
In August, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.391 million and 1.395 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 27.4% and 26.8%; new energy vehicle sales accounted for 48.8% of total new vehicle sales.
In September, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.617 million and 1.604 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 23.7% and 24.6%; new energy vehicle sales accounted for 49.7% of total new vehicle sales.
In October, new energy vehicle sales accounted for 51.6% of total new vehicle sales.
Looking at the overall situation from January to October this year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 13.015 million and 12.943 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 33.1% and 32.7%. New energy vehicle sales accounted for 46.7% of total new vehicle sales.
New energy vehicle sales, currently a monthly phenomenon, are poised to become an annual phenomenon, given their development trend.
New energy vehicle exports in the first seven months of this year have already exceeded the total for the entire previous year.
The export momentum of China’s new energy vehicles can be described as phenomenal.
In 2021, new energy vehicle exports reached 310,000 units, a 300% year-on-year increase.
In 2022, exports reached 679,000 units, a 120% year-on-year increase.
In 2023, exports reached 1.203 million units, a 77.6% year-on-year increase.
In 2024, China exported 1.284 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%.
Since 2025, the high growth trend has continued:
From January to June, exports reached 1.06 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 75.2%.
In July, exports reached 225,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 120%.
In August, exports reached 224,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 100%.
In September, exports reached 222,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 100.9%.
In October, exports reached 256,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 99.9%.
The overall figure for January to October is 2.014 million vehicles exported, a year-on-year increase of 90.4%.
Notably, from January to July, exports of new energy vehicles reached 1.308 million vehicles, already exceeding the total export volume of new energy vehicles for the entire year of 2024 (1.284 million vehicles). Seven months have accomplished the work of the entire previous year.
