In the “turbulent” car-making world, the competition between various players has long transitioned from “comparing volume” to “comparing quality”. Recently, the quality ranking of new energy vehicles was revealed. Which star models dominate the list and which ones do not reach the average score?
1. The first quarter new energy vehicle quality ranking is revealed
Recently, China Automobile Quality Network released a number of lists including the quality rankings of new energy medium and large vehicles (pure electric models), medium-sized SUVs (pure electric models), medium and large and large SUVs (pure electric models) in the first quarter of 2025.
The relevant lists are divided into two levels: above the standard score average (including the average) and below the average. The former involves models with low or medium potential defect risks and relatively stable reliability, while the latter involves models with relatively high potential defect risks. China Automobile Quality Network mentioned that the high complaint-to-sales ratio has affected the overall quality evaluation results of some models to a certain extent.
China Automobile Quality Network disclosed that the list is based on the China Automobile Quality Network complaint big data platform, with the “Automotive Product Safety Risk Assessment and Risk Control Guide” and “Household Automobile Product Serious Safety Performance Judgment Guide” as reference, and comprehensively considers the five dimensions of complaint failure, defect risk, reliability, safety, and environmental protection of each model, and finally determines it with reference to the evaluation data of authoritative research institutions. The evaluation objects are new energy models that have been sold in the market for three months as of the first quarter of this year (excluding imports).
The list shows that in the first quarter of 2025, there are 29 models on the quality ranking of new energy medium and large and large vehicles (pure electric models), of which 15 models are above the average value (including the average value), and 14 models are below the average value.
Models above the average value (including the average value) include GAC Haobo GT, Lantu Automobile Chasing Light, Avita 12, Changan Qiyuan A07, Xiangjie S9, Polar Fox Alpha S, Leapmotor C01, Xiaopeng P7+, Zhijie S7, Zhiji Automobile L6 and L7, etc.
Among them, “Xiangjie” is a high-end brand launched by BAIC Blue Valley (600733.SH) and Huawei. Its first model, Xiangjie S9, was launched on August 6, 2024, expanding the high-end market of more than 400,000 yuan. The “Jihu” brand is a high-end smart new energy vehicle brand created by BAIC Blue Valley. After the Jihu Alpha S5 was launched in June 2024, it ranked first in the quality ranking of new energy mid-sized vehicles in the third quarter of 2024 on the China Automobile Quality Network.
“Xiaopeng P7+” is a smart electric vehicle launched by Xiaopeng Motors (09868.HK) in November 2024. In March 2025, Xiaopeng P7+ was launched for 4 months and delivered more than 40,000 units in total. Xiaopeng P7+ was the first to propose “same price for oil and smart cars”, which promoted the migration of fuel car users to new energy smart cars.
In addition, the models below the average value among new energy medium and large vehicles (pure electric models) include Zeekr 001, BYD Han, Brilliance BMW i5, Nezha Auto S, Xiaomi SU7, etc.
2. The quality ranking of new energy SUVs is released, and many products of new car-making forces are on the list
In terms of the quality ranking of new energy medium-sized SUVs (pure electric models), a total of 22 models are on the list. Among them, there are 12 models above the average value (including the average value), and 10 models below the average value.
Models above the average value (including the average value) include Aion LX, Lantu Auto Zhiyin, Tesla Model Y, Cadillac IQ Aoge, Alpha T5, etc.; models below the average value include Zeekr 7X, NIO EC6, NIO ES6, Ruilan Auto 9, BMW iX3, BYD Haisheng 07 EV, BYD Song L EV, etc., and the last model is Chery Shuxiangjia.
In terms of the quality ranking of new energy vehicles, medium and large SUVs (pure electric models), a total of 26 models were listed, of which 16 models were above the average value (including the average value), and 10 models were below the average value. Models above the average value (including the average value) include SAIC Audi Q5 e-tron, Wenjie M9, GAC Haobo HT, Leapmotor C16, Avita 11, Zhijie R7, Xiaopeng G9, etc.; models below the average value include NIO ES8, NIO EC7, NIO ES7, Zhiji Auto LS6 and LS7, Feifan R7, etc.
