Why are your motor windings prone to burn out? Motor windings burn out easily is usually caused by a combination of factors such as electrical failure, mechanical failure, and poor operating environment.

Motor stator circuits such as power supply, control switches, contactors, etc. are out of phase, which can cause a serious imbalance of current in the motor’s three-phase windings, and the windings with too much current will heat up quickly. Power supply failure leads to a phase fuse blown, or line a phase phase missing, may trigger phase missing operation, if not timely shutdown, will quickly cause the winding collapse burn.

Too high a power supply voltage will increase the magnetic flux in the stator core of the motor, and the loss will increase and heat up; too low a voltage will make the motor torque smaller, and the motor will heat up seriously due to overcurrent when it is running with the rated load.

Motor internal water or other corrosive liquids or gases, will make the winding insulation is eroded, the weakest point in the insulation occurs a little to the ground, phase to phase short circuit or turn to turn short circuit phenomenon. Long-term overload or overheating operation will also accelerate the winding insulation aging, triggering a short circuit.

If the motor is installed with fake or shoddy bearings, or the bearings have pitting, rust and other defects, the bearings are easily damaged during operation. Poor bearing lubrication, such as the use of the wrong grade of lubricant, or lubricant deterioration, too little, will cause bearing heat damage.

Due to bearing damage, shaft bending and other causes of stator and rotor collision, commonly known as sweeping. Sweeping will cause the core temperature rises sharply, burn the slot insulation, turn-to-turn insulation, resulting in a short circuit between the turns of the winding or to the ground and the collapse of the burn.

Damaged or improperly installed fan will lead to poor heat dissipation of the motor, making the internal temperature of the motor is too high, resulting in winding burnout. Motor long-term serious moisture or corrosive gas erosion, will make the insulation resistance drop, accelerate the aging of the winding insulation, thus triggering winding failure.
