In design, the AITO M8 continues the family-style aesthetic. Its robust, closed-off front fascia paired with a full-width light strip creates an even more expansive front appearance. Similarly, the M8 features million-pixel smart projection headlights enabling intelligent interaction and projecting welcome light effects like “Qilin Treading the Sea” and “Kunpeng Leaping Through Realms.”

In terms of dimensions, the M8 measures 5190/1999/1795mm (L/W/H) with a 3105mm wheelbase—standard for a large SUV. The most striking feature on the side profile is undoubtedly the door handles. The AITO M8 employs semi-concealed handles supporting gesture-activated opening and button-operated unlocking. It incorporates an independent CPM power redundancy module, retaining a mechanical unlocking mechanism to address user concerns about being stranded in a power outage.

The rear design remains minimalist, featuring ISD intelligent interactive taillights. The light language offers new themes like city landmarks and urban windows, creating a highly distinctive appearance when illuminated.

Inside, the AITO M8 adopts a wraparound cockpit design, continuing the style of the AITO M9. It features a combination of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and a 16-inch passenger display. The infotainment system runs on HarmonyOS 4, with a UI interface and dock bar design nearly identical to a large tablet, offering intuitive operation and supporting functions like music streaming and movie viewing.

An AR-HUD head-up display is positioned in front of the driver, projecting navigation, multimedia, and driving information. It also enables movie viewing while parked. The vehicle incorporates the HUAWEI SOUND audio system, complemented by a 32-inch rear-seat entertainment screen, delivering a private cinema-like immersive experience.

The test-driven model was the six-seat variant, featuring two independent zero-gravity seats in the second row. Note that zero-gravity seats are not standard; they are reserved for mid-range trim levels and above. Despite accommodating six passengers, the third row remains spacious. The seats boast soft padding, extended seat cushions, and amenities like seat heating and adjustable backrest angles, ensuring comfort.

The rear seats in the five-seat variant offer a wide range of recline adjustment, allowing passengers to achieve a semi-reclined position. The rear passenger seat on the passenger side also features a leg rest.

Powering the AITO M8 is a 1.5T range-extended powertrain paired with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The front and rear motors deliver maximum power outputs of 165kW and 227kW respectively, resulting in a combined output of 392kW. In real-world driving, the M8 maintains smooth power delivery even in Sport mode.

For range, the entry-level model features a 37kWh battery pack with a CLTC pure-electric range of 201km. Mid-to-high trim levels utilize a 53.4kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC pure-electric range of 310km. Notably, the M8’s new extended-range platform achieves a generator thermal efficiency of 44.8%, resulting in low fuel consumption of just 6.6L/100km when the battery is depleted.

For the chassis, the AITO M8 utilizes Huawei’s Tuling chassis with superior hardware specifications. It features a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension, with dual-chamber closed-loop air suspension standard across all trims. The closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension system incorporates its own compressed air tank, delivering superior response speed, stability, and noise control compared to open-loop systems.

Powered by the Tuling chassis, features like torque vectoring control not only enhance ride comfort but also deliver a satisfying driving experience. For instance, during high-speed cornering, the chassis provides solid support and effectively suppresses body roll. For more details, click the video above.

From a product perspective, the AITO M8 demonstrates balanced performance across all aspects with virtually no weaknesses. Latest sales figures show the AITO M8 consistently sells around 3,000 units weekly, reflecting its strong market appeal. Crucially, AITO is currently expanding production capacity while holding substantial backlog orders, suggesting an impending sales surge. In short, the intensifying competition in the 400,000-yuan SUV segment is likely to persist for an extended period. The AITO M8’s well-rounded product offering may prove pivotal in helping it stand out.
